GLAZE Charity has been significant in funding the Green Light Laser Equipment for Princess of Wales Hospital Centre of Excellence headed by Andy Thomas.
It is now an eminent teaching unit, one of only three in Europe, the others being in London and Madrid. Andy is currently leading the Worldwide trial known as Project Goliath for Green Light Laser treatment from the centre of excellence in Princess of Wales Hospital. The trial is funded by American Medical Systems (AMS) for further info click here >
AMS is the leading innovator in developing minimally invasive treatment options for enlarged prostate or BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia). They help physicians cover the complete spectrum of solutions for patients suffering from enlarged prostate, from mildly symptomatic to severely obstructed.
They also work with GLAZE to “RAISE THE AWARENESS” of Prostate Cancer in Wales. “EVERY MAN should have access to the treatment that is best for his cancer and his lifestyle.” Leaflets and booklets about Prostate Cancer need to be more readily available across Wales.

From Founding To Current Day, The Glaze Journey...
In December 2003 the prostate cancer charity GLAZE (Green Light Laser Equipment), was founded and has made significant headway achieving some remarkable milestones in its young history.
Set up initially in Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan the aim was to create funds to purchase equipment for the treatment of benign prostate conditions, in which almost 600 male patients have since been treated at the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend. GLAZE Charity Trust has now spread its wings to bring to Wales for the first time a new treatment for some patients with prostate cancer.
Cryotherapy was first performed In Wales by Neil Fenn, Consultant Urological Surgeon at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, he has used cryotherapy to treat kidney cancer via laparoscopic (key hole) surgery. Andy Thomas and Neil Fenn have performed the first 10 cases of cryotherapy for prostate cancer in Swansea in 2008. With the creation of a new amalgamated ABM University NHS Trust, cryotherapy for prostate cancer will now be relocated to the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend and be led by Mr Thomas.
